9/14/25 — Teal
While we’re still kicking things off here at The Recystance, we’ll start with a pilot program, conducted virtually, most likely over Google Meet. 10 peers (if we get that many) looking for support. 1 peer facilitator. Must be 18 years or older to apply.
Please only apply if there’s a high reliability you can attend all 9 planned sessions.
The support group, which we call a ‘release’ group simply because the founder of The Recystance founder is pretentious, is for peers, by peers. This means there is no clinician or professional hosting or involved with the group. There is no corporation, brand, or non-profit behind The Recystance. Just a volunteer with free time on their hands and a lot of experience with support groups.
This is probably not a surprise to those of you who’ve attended a support group before but we do have a few rules to keep in mind. They are available here and from our site navigation page. I don’t think they’re too awful, but, then again, I wrote them.
The beta will be semi-staged. First, we go over ground rules and get acquainted with each other. Then, we do the actual support group things! Yay, or whateva. Finally, we meet to debrief so I can figure out if this project is worth continuing and what changes to make.

The beta will use a closed membership format (sorry, at least the application is brief). If you are chosen for the beta you will be given links to the virtual meeting rooms when the time comes. I plan on choosing members randomly, exempting matters of scheduling.
After a support group session there will be an optional (technically everything is optional) “after-meet.” Just a secondary group call that’s more free-form focused on socialization. I will not be ‘facilitating’ during this time, I will just be an idiot there for kicks. If no one shows up I’ll end the meeting and if everyone hates the concept we can abandon it.
Crucially, a Discord (a group instant messaging social media platform) will be made available to all members of the beta. Like the after-meet, participation in the Discord is optional, but may help you stay in touch with your fellow beta testers.
